Motivational talks

Is your Sailing Club looking for speakers for its winter lecture programme?

Or do you belong to a Club or other organisation that would welcome one of Mary’s inspirational talks?

You do not have to be a sailor yourself to benefit! Mary gives talks to sailors and non sailors alike. Or perhaps you are an employer looking for an entertaining way of motivating your employees.

If you are interested in Mary’s talks about surviving cancer, her QII Challenge races, or her record breaking singlehanded transatlantic race performed in her annual holiday while a partner in a leading firm of London solicitors, please contact us.

Mary donates all lecture fees to the ICR for her QII Challenge.

Sir Clive Martin's Reference   Testimonials

A recommendation as a speaker, to whom it may concern

The accomplished yachtswoman, Mary Falk, was a guest speaker at the City Livery Yacht Club’s Laying Up Dinner in 2008.

Mary effectively captured the attention of her audience with a stimulating account of managing her yacht QII, with all the added pressures of ocean racing.  Mary included amusing anecdotes, reminding her audience that the racing experience is far from plain sailing!  She was not backward in revealing some of her trials and tribulations.

Mary speaks with extraordinary modesty, but the audience is left in no doubt about the determination and ability of this intrepid seafarer.  Her achievements have brought substantial fund raising benefit to The Institute of Cancer Research.

Among her many achievements, in 1996 Mary scored a new 35 feet monohull record for the Singlehanded Transatlantic Race in her yacht QII.  This record still stands today.

Unreservedly, I recommend Mary Falk as a guest speaker.

"Mary is an inspiration to anyone who sails and I call on everyone to support her in trying to raise funds for research at the Institute of Cancer Research"
Dame Ellen MacArthur

"The Petit Bateau Race is an event that demands skill, determination, and spirit - all of which Mary has in abundance. I wish her the greatest success in this challenging venture, and in her fundraising for The Institute of Cancer Research"
Clare Francis

"Having recently lost a member of the family to cancer I am well aware how common it is and the dreadful consequences that it brings. Research is what it needs and I hope that everyone who sails or who enjoys watching sailing will join me in sponsoring Mary in this fantastic challenge."
Pete Goss
